All About Indian Army Chief Designate Lt. General Bipin Rawat

Lt. Gen Bipin Rawat superceded Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi, Eastern Army Commander and Lt Gen PM Hariz, Southern Army Commander. There have been only a few exceptions like when Indira Gandhi superseded Lt-Gen S K Sinha to appoint General A S Vaidya as Army chief in 1983. Lt Gen Rawat is currently the Vice Chief of Army Staff, a position he is holding since 1st September 2016 at a time when Kashmir was on boil owing to Burhan Wani encounter.  He has wide experience in counter insurgency operations in J&K and North East India.
