It was sheer alertness and brave act of Constable Pramod Kumar that a young girl’s life could be saved. At about 1100 hrs, a girl (withholding name) accidentally fell in Munak canal flowing at the back side of 55 Bn CRPF, Bawana, Delhi.
It was noticed by Ct Pramod Kumar of 55 Bn, who was on sentry duty at a distance. She was drowning and only her hand was visible as the canal was deep.
Immediately the sentry alerted other personnel and jumped into the canal and with the help of HC K D Sharma and ASI K C Meena carried her to shore and administered first aid in CRPF hospital.
The girl was taken to Maharishi Balmiki Government hospital, Delhi for further treatment. She is out of danger and survived.
Immediate help by CRPF Personnel saved her life. The girl is a resident of Shahjahanpur now living in Narela with her parents.
