COMMAND HOSPITAL PERFORMS ITS FIRST EVER SUCCESSFUL VITREORETINAL SURGERY

At Command Hospital (Central Command), Lucknow, Department of Ophthalmology has performed its first ever vitreo retinal surgery successfully. The Surgery was performed on 65 years old, mother of a serving soldier, who had developed retinal detachment and needed urgent surgery for the same in order to prevent complete blindness. Surgery was performed by using the state of Art Vitrectomy machine which has recently been installed by the vitreoretinal surgeon of the hospital.

The department of Ophthalmology of Command Hospital is now fully capable of handling all retinal cases like Retinal detachment, macular hole, vitreous haemorrhage and diabetic retinopathy, which were till now were referred to Army Hospital (R&R) or in Civil Hospital.

The hospital under Command of Maj Gen Vibha Dutta, has undergone a huge transformation in outlook and modernization with a focus on soft skills. This facility of Medical and surgical retina will immensely help the large clientele of serving, ex-servicemen and their dependents of this command, which is spread across over many states.
