As India celebrates it’s 68th Republic Day functions, the IAF will participate in RD Parade with ceremonial marching contingent consisting of 04 officers and 144 air warriors who have been specially selected for this prestigious national event. The synchronised marching and drill movement by proud air warriors will definitely enthral the public and win their hearts.
This year the IAF marching contingent would be led by Sab Kar Attack Singh Sekhon and three superneumery officers which are Fg Offer Tripti Chaturvedi, Flt Lt SS Mythraye and Ft Lt Drishya Nath. They would be leading a contingent of 144 smart air warriors who would march in a box formation of 12×12 Nos.
The Marching Tune for the contingent would be rendered by IAF band of 75 highly talented musicians. The band would be led by Junior Warrant Officer Ashok Kumar who is an accomplished Drum Major. The Band would play many Martial Tunes to mesmerise the public and the famous Martial Tune “Sound Barrier” Quick March would be played while marching in front of main the main dais and according the Rashtriya Salute to the Honourable President.
These air warriors have been specially selected through a stringent selection process and hail from various Units located in various parts of the country. These air warriors truly showcase the ethos of IAF I.e. “Mission, Integrity and Excellence”. The parade contingent would march from Vijay Chowk to Red Fort covering the distance of 14 Kam exhibiting discipline and camaraderie in blue uniform. The IAF contingent has won the “Best Marching Contingent” in the years 2011, 2012 and 2013 and is confident of regaining the title this year.
The IAF Band would also be giving performances at Red Fort from 26-31 Jan 17 as part of Bharat Parv functions. They would enthral the citizens of Delhi with some beautiful composed martial music, patriotic songs and mesmerising bollywood songs.

This year, a special performance of Air Force Band is scheduled to be held at Central Park of CP as part of “Know Your Forces” campaign of the Services. The programme at CP will showcase the musical skills of our famed IAF musicians who have won many accolades with their performances in many countries abroad such as UK, Finland, France, Italy, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh etc. These performances have not only won them appreciation of foreign military Bands and connoisseur of music but also represent the IAF’s motto of “Touching the Sky with Glory”.
