At about 1030 Hours on 20 Nov 17, Indian Coast Guard Ship Samudra Pavak received a distress alert relayed from a fishing boat ‘IFB Naukeshwari’ regarding flooding onboard ‘IFB Kalyneshwari’ in position 42 NM West of Jakhau-Gujarat.
On receipt of the distress alert, ICGS Samudra Pavak proceeded with maximum speed to render assistance to the fishing boat.
The Coast Guard Ship on reaching area observed that the fishing boat was almost submerged due to severe flooding and the crew were desperately trying to salvage their sinking boat but the distressed fishing boat capsized and sank in no time in approximate position 42 Nautical miles West of Jakhau.
In a swift rescue operation all 06 crew were rescued by the ICG Ship and were given medical first aid. Thereafter, ICGS Samudra Pavak proceeded to enter Porbander harbour at 1500 Hours on 21 Nov 17 for handing over the survivors to concerned authorities.
