Indian Warships Took Part In Chinese Fleet Review To Mark 70th Anniversary of PLA Navy

INS Kolkata, indigenously built stealth destroyer and INS Shakti, the Fleet Support Ship took part in the Fleet Review organised to mark the 70th Anniversary of PLA (Navy) on 23 April 19. A total of 32 vessels of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) and 18 vessels from 13 countries took part in the IFR which was reviewed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

As part of Sports Interaction during IFR, IN Team participated in ‘Sampan Race’ a boat pulling race organised for a distance of 2.5 km and in Tug-o-War championship. A friendly football match was also played between IN and Brunei Navy personnel. Indian Navy team has secured ‘Runners-up’ position in the overall sports team position and the host, PLA(Navy) team adjudged as the ‘Overall Winners’ in the IFR Sporting Activities.

There was enthusiastic response from a large number of residents to have a closer look at the Indian Naval ships when they were kept ‘Open to Visitors’.
