An International Maritime Seminar was conducted on 07 th March at Dweepika Auditorium, Haddo as part of ongoing multi-national exercise MILAN -18 at Port Blair. The Seminar was based on the theme “In Pursuit of Maritime Good Order-Need for Comprehensive Information Sharing Apparatus’. Various eminent speakers deliberated upon issues to evolve best practices for multi-lateral cooperation towards strengthening of maritime good order in the Indian Ocean Region.
The seminar was attended by delegates from participating Navies of MILAN 2018 and senior Officers from Naval Headquarters, New Delhi. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC, Commander-in- Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command who delivered the inaugural address and the keynote address was delivered by Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, AVSM & Bar, VSM (Retd).
The exchange of ideas and papers presented by speakers from various countries threw light on challenges faced by the nations and the cooperative mechanisms that have evolved over a period of time and what more needs to be done. The seminar enabled cross pollination of ideas towards boosting fusion and dissemination of information for strengthening maritime good order in the Indian Ocean Region. Closing address for the seminar was delivered by Major General PS Sai, Chief of Staff, Andaman and Nicobar Command.
