List of Winners of Gallantry Awards Quiz Competition

Abhijit Biswas won the 1st prize in 18 years and above category while Upasana Biswas won the 1st prize in below 18 years category of Gallantry Awards online Quiz competition held prior to Republic Day 2018.

“In order to inculcate spirit of nationalism and patriotic feeling among youth and masses, an online quiz competition on gallantry awards (Param Vir Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Vir Chakra, Ashoka Chakra, Kirti Chakra and Shaurya Chakra) was conducted by Ministry of Defence in coordination with MyGov.in from 1-10 January 2018. A total of 87,000 people participated in the quiz competition from whole of India”, says Nampibou Marinmai, PRO Defence.



The winners in both categories are as follows:

18 Years and above

  1. 1st Prize- Abhijit Biswas
  2. 2nd Prize- Suman Devi
  • 3rd Prize- Ravi Shekhar Gunark
  1. 1st Consolation Prize- Gaurav Kumar
  2. 2nd Consolation Prize- Abhinay Verma

Below 18 Years

  1. 1st Prize- Upasana Biswas
  2. 2nd Prize- Pragya Pathak
  • 3rd Prize- Mihir Dahanukar
  1. 1st Consolation Prize- Sai Sanjay
  2. 2nd Consolation Prize- Amar Nath

Questions for the quiz were primarily based on the information available in respect of the gallantry awards and awardees on online portal www.gallantryawards.gov.in – launched on the 15 August 2017. Salient features of the quiz are as under:

The prize money was as follows:

o   1st Prize                                                          Rs. 1,00,000/-

o   2nd Prize                                                         Rs. 75,000/-

o   3rd Prize                                                          Rs. 50,000/-

o   Consolation Prize  (Two Nos.)                     Rs. 15,000/- each

Winners of the quiz were awarded cash prizes along with trophy in both the categories as under. They were felicitated during the Republic Day Celebrations – 2018. Besides, witnessing the Republic Day Parade on 26 January, winners got a chance to witness the Beating Retreat on 28 January as well. Ministry of Defence made arrangements for their journey and stay in Delhi.
