Army chief General Bipin Rawat says that the Western neighbor (Pakistan) and Northern Neighbor (China) are behind planned immigration of Bangladeshi Nationals into India’s North East. “Pakistan will always try that this area is taken over by playing proxy dimension of the warfare so you don’t have to confront a stronger nation through commensurable operations. So you play a proxy game”. “This proxy game is well played by our Western neighbour also supported by our Northern neighbour. So to keep this area disturbed, we will continue to see migration happening”.

CoAS also said that the Government is now looking at North East in correct perspective. And if that happens time will not be far when we amalgamate this region and ensure development and with development will come the control of the people residing in that area.

Army chief said that the dynamics of the region now can not be changed. “There is a party called AIUDF, they have grown in a faster time frame than the BJP has grown in over the years. When we talk of Jan Sangh when with two Parliamentarians where have they reached, AIUDF is moving at a faster pace in the state of Assam. Finally, what will the state of Assam, we have to take a call”, said Army Chief Gen Rawat.   “We have got to appreciate to live with all the people who live in our region irrespective of their caste, creed, religion or sex”, he added while speaking at a seminar “North East Region of India- Bridging Gaps and Securing Borders” organised by CENJOWS and Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence.
