James Mattis is the Secretary of Defence of United States of America! He is on his first India visit from 26 to 28th September. After his arrival in India, James Mattis will lay a wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti to pay homage to martyrs. Thereafter he will meet Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and PM Narendra Modi.

James Mattis is a retired Marine Corps General, who served for 40 years in the Marine Corps. Former US President Barak Obama appointed him the commander of Central Command, where he served from 2010 to 2013.  President Trump appointed General James Mattis as his secretary of defence on 20th January this year.

James Mattis earned the nickname “Mad Dog” for leading U.S. Marines into battle in Fallujah, Iraq, in April 2004. Sources say James Mattis does not like him to be called as “Mad Dog”. However, President Trump fondly love praising him by that name for his uncompromising approach to America’s enemies. James Mattis is also called as “Warrior Monk”. Warrior Monk… yea thats correct because he is a bachelor, has no children and he has proved his devotion to the history of war.
