DRDO Scientist Dr. Mitra Basu Chillar’s daughter, Manushi Chillar is crowned Ms World 2017 today in Sanya, China. She has won the crown 17 years after Priyanka Chopra was crowned Ms World in the year 2000. Manushi’s both parents, Dr Mitra Basu Chillar and Dr Neelam Chillar are celebrating the victory with their daughter in Sanya, China where she was crowned Miss World. (Watch Video)
Manushi has done her schooling from St Thomas School in New Delhi and currently pursuing medical degree course from Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College in Sonepat. Manushi’s father is a scientist in DRDO’s lab Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Scientist (INMAS) at Timarpur in New Delhi, while her mother is associate professor at Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences.

The joy of Manushi winning the crown has percolated to the DRDO Scientific community as well. “She has done all of us proud. May God bless her”, Dr Gaurav, a colleague of Dr Mitra Basu commented in an instant reaction.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Manushi saying India is proud of her accomplishments.

DRDO spokesperson Manish Bharadwaj expressed happiness saying, “Proud of DRDO daughter’s accomplishment”, while DRDO chairman, Dr Christopher, was away for official work.
