Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir | Aug 2025: In a momentous achievement for India’s mountaineering community, a Joint Expedition Team comprising Instructors from the premier National Mountaineering Institutes— Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports (JIM&WS) Pahalgam , Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) Uttarkashi, and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) Darjeeling — has successfully summitted the highest peaks in Pangong Tso region organized and Leaded by Colonel Hem Chandra Singh, Principal JIM&WS, Pahalgam.

–             Mt Merag- III (6,480M / 21,254Ft) Summited on 29 July 2025 at 0939hrs

–       Mt kangju Kangri (6710M/ 22,008Ft) Summited on 02 August 2025 at 1513hrs

The expedition was flagged off by Colonel Hem Chandra Singh on 24 July 2025 in Sonamarg. Demonstrating exemplary courage, resilience, and teamwork amidst extreme weather conditions and extreme-altitude challenges, the team has set a benchmark in Indian mountaineering history.

The expedition was led by Colonel Hem Chandra Singh, Principal JIM&WS Pahalgam, with an experienced team from all three National Institutes:
