The Indian Battalion (INDBATT), deployed under the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), successfully executed a transformative agricultural initiative aimed at empowering local communities in Rumajak Village, Abyei. The event saw active participation from 71 local residents, including 37 women and 34 men, who took part in this initiative to enhance their agricultural knowledge and practices.

The programme, led by the Commander of the Rumajak Company Operating Base, focused on promoting sustainable agricultural methods and fostering self-reliance among the local population. The key activities included:

– Presentations on Advanced Farming Techniques: Participants gained valuable insights into modern and sustainable agricultural practices.

– Ground Visit to Kitchen Garden Areas: Practical demonstrations of effective cultivation methods were conducted to showcase techniques suited to the region’s environment.

– Interactive Q&A Session: Local residents engaged in an interactive session, addressing their concerns and gaining knowledge tailored to their agricultural needs.

The event received positive feedback from the community, with participants showing keen interest in the agricultural practices and techniques shared by the Indian peacekeepers. Local leaders and community members praised the Indian contingent for their unwavering commitment to fostering self-sufficiency and resilience within the region.

Speaking at the event, the Contingent Commander highlighted the peacekeepers’ goal of empowering the local population with the knowledge and skills to enhance agricultural productivity and support long-term food security.
