India’s Ministry of Defence is to host a two day seminar code named ‘Ran Samvad— 2025’ on 26th and 27th August. The global event is in line with the Raisina Dialogue or the Shangri-La Dialogue in India and will be attended by 18 Defence attaches of 17 friendly foreign countries in Army War College Mhow, Ambedkar Nagar in Madhya Pradesh.

Unlike Raisina dialogue, which is more on geo-strategy or geo- politics, the Ran Samvad seminar will strives to focus purely on military matters and futuristic warfare.

 

The event will be conducted by each service – the Army, the Navy and the Air Force—in rotation, with the tri-services think-tank Centre for Joint Warfare Studies.  

 

According to Indian Armed Forces officials, the technological advancements are leading to a change in the character and nature of war. This is causing a parallel effect on the practitioners of war in terms of their operational planning, tactics and strategies.

 

 In Ran Samwad, all participants are the actual practitioners of war, people whose primary job is to fight and defend the country. Scholar warriors who need to be aware of the transformations taking place in War, Warfare and Warfighting that will impact future wars that they fight and hence the need for them to decide the changes needed to equipment, tactics, organisational structures, training, operational art and strategies for the future.

‘Ran Samwad-2025’ will focus on the ‘Impact of Technology on Warfare’ with two sub-themes. Sub-theme 1: Emerging Technologies & Impact on Future Warfare. Sub-theme 2: Reforms in Institutionalised Training to Catalyse Technological Enablement.

 

The First day events will include— Autonomous swarm tactics leveraging AI for coordinating drone swarm in maritime multi domain operation, leveraging and actualising technology in the Indian Armed Force, media interaction with CDS.

 

The Second day events will include – Measure to integrate technology for war fighting through training initiatives; Integration of autonomous unmanned system in land warfare reimagining force structure and tactical operation by 2025, lesson from contemporary conflicts and lesson from exercise at integrate traing area under taken by IAF, integrating space based surveillance and SATCOM a framework for seamless  C4ISR in modern conflict, disruptive technologies and future supply chain warfare disrupting the advisory logistic backbone in digital age, way Forward to align training initiatives with technological requirements in the theaterisation construct.

 

According to Ministry of Defence, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, Defence secretary, Secretary DRDO, veterans, serving officers from the three services, the CAPFs, defence experts, academic researchers, industry representatives and foreign Defence Attaches will participate in the first ever flagship event.

 

Ran Samwad-2025 focusses on domestic participation in terms of speakers. The future editions will have participation by speakers from like minded friendly foreign countries so we can share our insights comprehensively. India needs to lead the strategic debate on future war in line with our Vishwaguru stature once and we need to reclaim that spot.
