NETRA-2026: India Moves to Engineer the Future Battlespace with Electronic Warfare, Digital Twins & Mission-Critical Systems

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in association with the Association of Old Crows (AoC), India Chapter, and leading technology partners, has inaugurated NETRA-2026, a two-day national seminar focused on engineering the technologies that will shape the future battlespace.
Held on 11–12 August 2026, followed by a hands-on workshop on 13 August, the seminar brings together key stakeholders from the Indian Armed Forces, DRDO, Defence Public Sector Undertakings, academia and the defence industry.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. B. K. Das, Director General (Electronics & Communication Systems), DRDO, who attended as Chief Guest. Manoj Jain, CMD of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), was the Guest of Honour, alongside Sunil Motwani of MathWorks.
From Electronic Warfare to AI: Building the Future Battlespace
NETRA-2026 focuses on some of the most critical technologies expected to define next-generation warfare, including:
- Electronic Warfare and RF Systems
- Digital Twin and Digital Engineering
- Artificial Intelligence
- Advanced Radar Technologies
- FPGA Design
- Mission-Critical Systems
- Modelling, Simulation and Systems Engineering
The seminar provides a common platform for military users, scientists, engineers, researchers and technology developers to exchange operational insights and examine how emerging technologies can be translated into deployable defence capabilities.
A key focus is the growing use of digital engineering, advanced modelling and simulation, and intelligent systems to accelerate the design, development, testing and validation of mission-critical defence systems.
Hands-On Workshop to Follow
The 13 August workshop will give participants practical exposure to contemporary engineering tools, technologies and methodologies relevant to advanced defence applications.
With participation from the Armed Forces, DRDO, Defence PSUs, industry and academia, NETRA-2026 aims to strengthen collaboration across India’s defence technology ecosystem.
The initiative also supports India’s broader push for indigenous defence innovation, technology development and capability building under Aatmanirbhar Bharat—with a focus on preparing for an increasingly complex and technology-driven future battlespace.
