So, it is one country that is ruining the fabric of Pakistan and creating turmoils, internal rift bringing Islamic nation at the wrink of civil war. You guessed it right— China. The Communist China wants to see a weak Pakistan bowing before it with a begging bowl. So when Pakistan comes to China with that begging bowl, shylock China offers it money with an ulterior motive to grab land and resources under current Pakistani dispensation.
With the same purpose China has created rift between its military and civil society and for that matter created rift within military too. And the result you see a weak Pakistan Army calling 09th May a black day when it faces supporters of Imran Khan storming GHQ Rawalpindi and burning Pak Army’s corps commander’s residence in Lahore. Stay tuned for very interesting inside story without skipping any further.
China played with both simultaneously. Coming straight how Imran Khan was arrested and how the ongoing civil war like situation will impact upcoming elections due possibly in October this year. It all began with sacking to two military lieutenant generals by Imran Khan. Current Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir was DG- ISI in 2019 when Imran Khan sacked him to choose his own trusted Lt Gen Faiz Hamid as DG- ISI.
Lt Gen Faiz Hamid was accused by PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz for allegedly having a role in their convictions and for backing the previous dispensation under PTI. Lt Gen Faiz Hamid took voluntary retirement two days prior of appointment of Gen Asim Munir as CoAS.
The second military general sacked by Imran Khan was Lt Gen (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa, a former Army Spokesperson, was replaced on 1st August 2021 by Khalid Mansoor, a corporate management guy, to lead the CPEC Authority. The Chinese were not apparently happy with Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa as he was troubling Chinese due to his greed and corruption in CPEC projects and attacks on Chinese nationals in Balochistan perturbed the PRC.
Imran Khan’s popularity was growing as he took on Pakistan Army head on- the Army that staged coop on 3 counts and ruled the country for 3 decades post-independence in 1947. The rift between him and Army continued growing. Pakistan Army wanted him to mend his ways and avoid being critical of Pakistan Army.
When Pakistan Army failed to convince him, they played PTI’s most senior leaders from Punjab, Jahangir Khan Tareen against Imran Khan. Jahangir Khan Tareen, has formed a forward block in the national and provincial assemblies against his own party’s government. The development is very unusual as Tareen’s group, which has the support of roughly 34 parliamentarians from the PTI, said his own party’s government in Punjab is targeting them with fake legal cases in the name of accountability.
The then opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif, was placed on the no-fly list by the federal government when he tried to travel abroad for medical reasons. Sharif, who served as the chief minister of Punjab province for more than a decade, was considered to have ties with the military’s leadership. Now after the ouster of Imran Khan and Shahbaz Sharif at rein, army and current dispensation played the same tune of accountability which Imran Khan used against his opponents.
Meanwhile, despite military warning Imran Khan apparently crossed a red line when he accused Maj Gen Faisal Naseer, director general of counter-intelligence in the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), of trying to kill him twice while addressing a rally in Lahore a few days before his arrest.
Pakistan Army on 08th May issued a Statement via its media wing ISPR– just a day before the arrest of Imran Khan and I quote:
“Chairman PTI has levelled highly irresponsible and baseless allegations against a serving senior military officer without any evidence. These fabricated and malicious allegations are extremely unfortunate, deplorable and unacceptable. This has been a consistent pattern for last one year wherein military and intelligence agencies officials are targeted with insinuations and sensational propaganda for the furtherance of political objectives. We ask the political leader concerned to make a recourse to legal avenues and stop making false allegations. The institution reserves the right to take legal course of action against patently false and malafide statements and propaganda”.
A Pakistan where corruption is rampant right in all rank and files of its military to civilian Government, where hunger, powerty, unemployment is rampant, Imran Khan was arrested in a surprise move just outside the Islamabad High Court. The arrest warrant against Imran Khan who was in court was executed by none other that paramilitary that works under Pakistan Army. That simply shows Imran was taken care of by the Pakistan Army. And May 10th statement of ISPR clears the air. I quote ISPR statement here:
“According to the NAB statement, Chairman PTI was taken into legal custody yesterday from the Islamabad High Court – immediately after his arrest, there were organized attacks on Army properties and installations and anti-army slogans were raised. On the one hand, these evil elements vigorously stir up public sentiments to fulfill their limited and selfish goals and on the other hand, they do not get tired of highlighting the importance of the army for the country while putting dust in the eyes of the people. There is an example.
What the eternal enemy of the country could not do for 75 years, this group wearing a political cloak in the lust for power has done.
The army showed extreme patience, tolerance and restraint and without caring about its own reputation worked with extreme patience and tolerance in the wider interest of the country. Army should give its immediate response which can be used for its nefarious political purposes – Army’s mature response thwarted this conspiracy – We are well aware that behind this are the orders, directives and directives of some evil leadership of the party. There was and is complete pre-planning.
Facilitators, planners and political activists involved in these operations have been identified and strict action will be taken against them as per the law and all these evil elements will now be responsible for the consequences.
Any further attack on the army, including all law enforcement agencies, military and state installations and properties will be severely retaliated against by the very group that wants to push Pakistan into a civil war and has repeatedly attacked them. It has also been expressed.
No one can be allowed to incite people and take the law into their hands”
You will find it interesting that Imran Khan’s arrest just 2 days after Chinese foreign minister Qin Gang visited Islamabad first time after assuming the charge as State Councilor and Foreign Minister. The game is set by China and now China wants dominance of its military present in Pakistan and PoK and Gilgit Baltistan over Pakistan Army.
